Lissa Frankland enters her third year as an assistant athletictrainer at Rhode Island in 2013-14. She currently is responsiblefor providing sports medicine coverage to the women’sbasketball team and tennis teams.

Frankland comes to URI after recently earning her Master’s ofScience in Applied Exercise Science from Oklahoma State. At OSU,she worked primarily with the equestrian team, and assisted withday-to-day coverage of the Cowboys' football team. Frankland alsoserved as an approved clinical instructor to the CAATE accreditedundergraduate athletic training program.

Prior to completing her graduate work, Frankland spent a year as anathletic training intern at Appalachian State. There, she workedwith the ASU field hockey team and assisted with the ASU drugtesting program. Frankland also spent the summer of 2009 in Peoria,Ariz., working with minor league baseball players in the SeattleMariners' system.

The Washington state native began her athletic training career atNew Hampshire, where she served as a student athletic trainer onthe UNH staff, while completing her Bachelor's program in AthleticTraining. In her time with the Wildcats, she assisted withfootball, women’s soccer, men’s and women’soutdoor track & field and men’s basketball, in additionto working at nearby Phillips Exeter Academy.  She also servedas the president and treasurer of the student athletictrainers’ organization. 

Frankland is certified by the National Athletic Trainers'Association (NATA).
