How it Happened
Rhode Island (6-7, 0-1 A-10) dropped its first conference match of the season after battling through five sets against Fordham in the Atlantic 10 opener for both schools Saturday night.
The Rams struggled under pressure from Fordham (8-6, 1-0 A-10) in the first set and were held to just 13 points. Rhody took control of the second set and a couple of blocks by Mariah Paulette helped hold the Bronx Rams to just 16 points. Rhode Island held on to this momentum for the third set, besting Fordham 25-20.
Fordham took control of the final two sets of the night, and ultimately downed Rhode Island after going on a 10-2 run that ended the fifth set.

- Senior Olivia Budinich had a team-high 16 digs and added four assists.
- Redshirt sophomore Natale Zanellato and sophomore Claire Chaplinsky led the team with 14 kills each.
- Freshman Mariah Paulette contributed four blocks and 11 kills, the second-highest in tonight's effort.
