KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island sophomore Molly Botts was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Field Co-Performer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. Saint Louis' Katie Wissing shared the honor with the Cranston, R.I. native.
Botts, who was named to the All-Rookie team in both the indoor and outdoor seasons last year, won the weight throw this past weekend at Brown's Alden Invitational. Her mark of 16.38m (53' 9") was first and a New England Championship qualifying mark.
The honor is the first of her career, however Botts was named Rookie of the Week in the outdoor season last year after winning the hammer throw at the Stonehill Skyhawk Invitational.
The Rhody women's track and field squad returns to competition this Friday, Dec. 7 at Mackal Field House for the URI Pentathlon, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
