How It Happened
Spurred by three-set wins from sophomore Halah Davis and freshman Sydney Chratian, Rhode Island won for the third time in four matches, defeating host Wofford, 4-3, at the Reeves Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.

The teams completed singles play first due to inclement weather that was expected in the area. Rhode Island (4-5) clinched the team victory before doubles play was reached, getting wins from junior Tiara Higuchi at No. 2, freshman Paulina Loredo at No. 3, Davis at No. 4 and Chratian at No. 5. Rhody snapped Wofford's five-match win streak in the process.

Higuchi got the Rams on the board first with her fourth straight singles win, beating Cassidy Hicks in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4. After Wofford tied the match with a win at No. 6, Loredo closed out her match in straight sets, beating Lilie Steryous, 6-4, 6-4.

Next, it was Davis rallying from a set down to defeat Kay Kluska, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5. The win put Rhode Island within one point of the match, but Wofford (8-2) got a marathon win at No. 1 singles, as Jenna Vroman held off Erin Chratian, 5-7, 7-5, 7-5.

With Rhody holding a 3-2 lead, Sydney Chratian clinched the victory for the Rams. After Lauren Joch took the first set, 7-5, Chratian took the next two sets, 6-4, 7-5 to secure the team win.
