How it Happened:
After the first two days of the Harold Anderson Invitational, Rhode Island leads the meet with a score of 505.50. The Rams have won four of the 12 events so far.
Keely Hemminger claimed the first event of the meet, winning the 1,650-yard freestyle event by a decisive margin on Friday night. Rhody tried to claim the first event of Saturday's racing as well, but the team of Kaitlyn Bansky, Nicole Petta, Caitlin Guccione and Eliza Anderson tied Assumption College down to the millisecond in the 200-yard medley relay (1:46.78).
Of the last five events on Saturday night, the Rams claimed two of them. Nicole Petta won the 100-yard breaststroke comfortably and Caitlin Guccione won the 100-yard butterfly event.
Standouts from the Pool:
- Junior Sabrina Anderson and sophomore Cara Megill finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 1,650-yard freestyle.
- Freshman Keely Hemminger had a team-high third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, followed by sophomore teammate Cara Megill and junior teammate Emma Grace Pecha.
- The quartet of junior Maddie Horner, junior Mackenna Dunn, senior Grace Kneller and senior Eliza Anderson was just 0.06 seconds off the winning mark in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
- Senior Nicole Petta finished third in the 200-yard IM. Sophomore teammate Rebecca Younts and junior teammate Mackenna Dunn finished seventh and eighth, respectively.
- Senior Eliza Anderson earned a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle.
- Junior Mackenna Dunn, junior Maddie Horner, senior Eliza Anderson and junior Sabrina Anderson teamed up for the 800-yard freestyle relay and finished second.
- Sophomore Cameron Murray earned a team-best 225.35 points in the 1-meter dive. Murray was followed by junior teammates Katy Evans and Alyssa Campone.
What's Next:
The Rams will return to the Tootell Aquatic Center tomorrow morning for the final day of the Harold Anderson Invitational. The morning session is set to begin on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 9:30 a.m.
