KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island freshman Ari Castillo was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced Monday.

In five conference games last week, Castillo batted .500 (9-for-18) with two doubles, one home run and four runs scored. The shortstop from Fresno, Calif. scored twice in Rhody's 4-3 victory over Massachusetts - including the game-winning run - to lead the Rams to their first win over UMass since 2002, snapping a 34-game winless streak.

In the five games, Castillo had three multi-hit performances. She also recorded her 50th hit of the season, becoming the first Ram to reach 50 in one season since 2012. Castillo, who has started every game this season, is batting .397 on the season, which is fourth best among all A-10 players. Castillo also ranks sixth in hits (54), sixth in home runs (7), sixth in on-base percentage (.464), sixth in slugging percentage (.654) and eighth in doubles (12).
