Rhode Island Drops Series Finale at Saint Joseph's, 11-0

How it Happened
A disastrous third inning did Rhode Island in as the Rams dropped the series finale at Saint Joseph's, 11-0 Sunday afternoon.

Leading 1-0, Saint Joseph's (12-20, 6-3 Atlantic 10) opened the home half of the third with three straight singles to load the bases. A passed ball brought in Amanda Kulp with the first run of the inning, and a sacrifice fly by Stacey Mayer drove in Jancarla Herrera with the second run of the frame.

A hitter batter and single loaded the bases again with one out. Madeline Brunck and Taryn Grober hit back-to-back RBI singles, and Molly Kapala lofted a sacrifice fly to make the score 6-0 with two down. A walk and a single loaded the bases one more time, and Herrera drove in Brunck with an infield single. With the bases still loaded, Caela Abadie launched a grand slam to left that capped the rally and put the Hawks up 11-0.

Rhode Island (6-22, 3-6 Atlantic 10) only managed to get one runner into scoring position against Saint Joseph's starter Ashley Ventura. Ventura (8-8) allowed just two singled and now walks over the first four innings to pick up the win.
