Rhode Island Heads to UMass Lowell for Two Games Wednesday

KINGSTON, R.I. – Fresh off a three-game sweep of Atlantic 10 foe Saint Louis, Rhode Island hits the road for five games this week. The Rams play a doubleheader at UMass Lowell Wednesday and then head to Saint Joseph's for three games over the weekend.

When the Rams take the field against UMass Lowell Wednesday afternoon, they will be looking for their fourth consecutive victory. The team has not achieved four wins in a row since sweeping La Salle and Brown in back-to-back doubleheaders during the 2010 season, seven years ago.

This is the fourth consecutive season Rhode Island will play the River Hawks. After splitting doubleheaders in 2014 and 2015, UMass Lowell swept the Rams in two games last season.

vs. Saint Joseph's – 31-35-1
The only teams Rhode Island has faced more often than Saint Joseph's through the years are Massachusetts (100 games), Providence (77) and Temple (75).

Rhode Island junior Kylie Shivery is the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the second time in her career she has won the award. She shared the honor this week with La Salle's Mackenzie Obert… Shivery is batting a team-high .364 and is tied with fellow junior Paige Julich for the team lead with 13 runs batted in… After having one hit in her first two seasons, junior Bri Castro has hit safely in three straight games. Against Saint Louis, Castro batted .500 (3-for-6) with two doubles, four RBI and two runs scored… Senior Danielle Gariglio has hit safely in eight of her last 10 games, raising her batting average 78 points over that span… Freshman Erika Yeager has not made an error this season, handling all 117 of her chances cleanly… After hitting 21 doubles through the first 20 games of the season, Rhode Island has hit seven over the last four games.
