KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island women's rowing team made its season debut at the Head of the Riverfront in Hartford, Conn. On October 3, 2004.
Senior Marilyn Woodford (Peacedale, R.I.) raced to a second place finish in the single with a time of 21:09.88.
The varsity eight finished fourth in the Champ Eight in a time of 18:03.5 to finish 13 seconds behind rivals Boston College. Making up the varsity eight were coxswain Darlene Dorian (Pawtucket, R.I.), Ynke deKoe (Wickford, R.I.), Stephanie Nussbickel (Millbrook, N.Y.), Woodford, Ruth Chappell (Wakefield, R.I.), Ruth Peterle (North Stonington, Conn.), Ginny Sorrell (Indianapolis, Ind.), Kathryn McKeown (Cheltenham, Pa.) and Catherine Pruzinski (Gibsonia, Pa.).
The second varsity eight also raced in the Champ Eight to place ninth with a time of 18:19.81.
In the Second College Eight event, the third varsity eight crossed the finish line in a time of 18:54.83 to place them sixth.
The varsity four also had a fourth place finish with a time of 19:31. Boston College won the race in a time of 19:16.
The Rams will be back in action on October 23-24 as they compete in the Collegiate Eight event in the 40th Annual Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Mass.
