Gillies Invited to 2019 USRowing Under 23 Olympic Development Camp

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island freshman Kat Gillies was one of 15 rowers to be invited to the 2019 USRowing Under 23 Women's Olympic Development Program Camp, which will be held later this summer.

Gillies - who will compete for the Rams later this week at the NCAA Championship in Indianapolis - will head to Iowa City, Iowa from Aug. 13-17 to participate in the camp. The camp offers the opportunity for athletes with national team aspirations to train in a variety of boat classes with amplified instruction and a strong developmental focus. Selected athletes will participate in two to three sessions each day, along with educational segments with the intent to accelerate their rowing development toward the U23 and senior team levels. Coxswains for both camps have yet to be selected, but will be notified on an individual basis.

Hosted by the University of Iowa, the women's camp will be run by the school's head coach, Andrew Carter, while Anna Goodale of Ohio State University will be taking the role of assistant coach. USRowing Director of Athlete Development Brett Gorman will be in attendance as well.
