KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island Women's Rowing Team will hold three informational meetings at the start of the school year for students interested in trying out for the team. There is no previous rowing experience required.
Each of the meetings will be held in the Memorial Union in room 318. The dates and times of the meeting are:
- Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 6:00pm in Memorial Union Room 318
- Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 6:00pm in Memorial Union Room 318
- Thursday, Sept. 6 at 6:00pm in Memorial Union Room 318
Attendance to only one meeting is necessary, and each meeting will last approximately 45 minutes. While no previous rowing experience is required, a competitive athletic background, winning attitude and high academic record are preferred. There are no specific physical requirements but for rowers, women 5-9 or taller are strongly encouraged to attend. The team also seeking petite high-energy women to train as competitive coxswains.
The team - which is a fully-funded varsity sport - performs at a very high level regionally and nationally, winning six Atlantic 10 titles in the last nine years. The Rams also have made three appearances in the NCAA Championships in the last five years.
