KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island redshirt senior Davida Dale was named the CollegeSportsMadness.com National High-Major Player of the Week, announced Monday. Each week, College Sports Madness identifies the players who have had the greatest impact to their team from each conference and on a national basis. Dale was named the Player of the Week for all high-major conferences, including the Atlantic 10, CAA, Conference USA, Horizon, Mid-American, Missouri Valley, Mountain West, and West Coast Conference.
The Providence, R.I. native averaged a double-double last week with 21 points and 11 rebounds, leading the Rams to two straight victories over Vermont (77-74 OT) and Fairfield (74-41).
In the overtime victory over Vermont (11/25) Dale hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining on the clock. She scored a career-high 25 points - including a 4-of-5 performance from beyond the arc - and grabbed 14 rebounds for her third career double-double. She dished out five assists and played the full 40 minutes of regulation plus the five minute overtime period without committing a single turnover.
In Rhody's win over Fairfield (12/1) Dale led the Rams in points (17), rebounds (8), assists (6) and steals (6).
