KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island senior Thomas Vadis has been named this week's Field Performer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. George Mason's Blaine Lacey was named Track Performer and VCU's Jaekob Vollbrecht earned Rookie of the Week.

Vadis earned the honor after he finished second in the weight throw at the URI Sorlien Invitational. His mark of 18.61m (61' 0.75") is a career best for him and he currently leads the Atlantic 10 in the event.

This is the Providence, R.I. native's first career weekly accolade and the third honor for the Rams this indoor season.

The men's track and field team returns to competition this Friday at the Columbia Challenge and on Saturday for the Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University.
