Highlights from the Decathlon
- After ending day one in seventh place, Drew Nealey came back to win the SCSU Decathlon with 6640 total points. Nealey finished first in the javelin (54.31m), first in the 1500 meters (4:44.72), second in the discus (37.59m), third in the pole vault (4.40m), and seventh in the 110 meter hurdles (16.40s). The 6640 points is the fourth-best in program history.
- Daniel O'Neil finished ninth with 5790 points. He placed fifth in the discus (32.02m), sixth in the 1500 meters (4:54.18), eighth in the 110 meter hurdles (16.51s), ninth in the pole vault (3.20m), and 10th in the javelin (42.35m).
- Stephen Cirella ended with 4501 points, good for 16th place. He finished eighth in the javelin (46.10m), 12th in the 1500 meters (5:14.87), and 16th in the 110 meter hurdles (18.57s) before scratching the final two events.
The Rhode Island men's track and field team is set to compete at the UConn Northeast Challenge tomorrow, April 14. Events are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
