Honka Wins Pole Vault at New Englands, Burley Takes Long Jump; Slew of Rams Advance to Finals

NEW HAVEN, CONN - The Rhode Island men's track & field team competed Friday in day one action of the 2016 Outdoor New England Championship - hosted on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University. After day one, the Rams lead the Huskies of Northeastern 45-34. 

The day was highlighted with Rhody crowning two New England champion on the day - Ondrej Honka in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 5.10m (16' 8.75"). Casey Burley took first in the long jump with a new personal best of 7.42m (24' 4.5")

The Rams will return for day two action of the New England Championship on Saturday with the action beginning at 10 a.m. with the men's decathlon 110m hurdles.
