KINGSTON, R.I. - For a third time this season Rhody track & field senior Samuel Snyder has been named conference Performer of the Week, the league office announced this morning. Snyder will share this week's honor with Alec Peabody of Saint Joseph's.

Competing at the Brown Open on Sunday, the Hopewell Valley, N.J. native, broke the second oldest school record in program history, which stood for almost 34 year in the discus. Snyder had a record-breaking distance of 177'3". This mark currently leads the Atlantic 10 Conference and sits him 29th in the NCAA East Region for the discus.
Snyder finished third in the discus throw at the 122nd Penn Relays with a finals distance of 170'4". He followed that up with a sixth place overall finish in the shot put that same day with a distance of 53' 10.25" - which is also a conference best mark and places him 46th in the NCAA East Region.
On Wednesday of last week, Snyder competed at the College of the Holy Cross where he notched two new personal bests in both the discus and the shot. He recorded a distance of 56' 2.75 in the shot and what was a short lived personal best of 173' 6.75" in the discus.
Snyder and the rest of his teammates will head to Fairfax, Va., to the campus of George Mason for the 2016 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship. Events begin on Saturday, May 7 at 1030 a.m. and will conclude on Sunday. May 8.
