Four Personal Bests, Two Season Bests Lead the Way For the Rams

PRINCETON, N.J. - The URI men's track & field team completed day two action at the Larry Ellis Invitational Saturday afternoon. The Rams saw a slew of athletes set either new personal or season bests on the day. 

The day had many highlights for Rhode Island seeing four new personal bests recorded and two new season best in day two action. Two-time and back-to-back conference rookie of the week Adam Franklin, ran a new personal best in the 400m hurdles running a time of 53.57s, which shattered his previous best of 54.95s. 

Not to be outdone, two-time conference performer of the week Samuel Snyder recorded a new outdoor personal best in the shot put with a throw of 17.11m (56' 1.75"), whch placed him fourth overall in the event. This mark also moved Snyder into third place all-time in program history for the shot put. 

The relay team of Nigel Hill, Joseph Carter, Adam Franklin and Casey Burley ran a season best of 41.89s in the 4x100 relay. Hill also set a new personal best in the 100m dash with a time of 10.85s. 

Rounding out the day of new marks was John Stallworth who ran a season best of 14.64s in the 110m hurdles.

The Rams will have one more meet to get tuned up before heading to the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships in two weeks. The last tune up will come next Saturday, May 1 when the team makes the short trip to Providence to compete in the Brown Open.
