PRINCETON, N.J. - The Rhode Island men's track & field team competed Friday in day one of the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University. Friday was finals day in the Men's pole vault and javelin throw.
Freshman Ryan Wilkes took home a fifth place finish in the pole vault clearing the bar at an outdoor personal best of 4.98m (16'4"). Senior John Pangborn placed fourth overall in the javelin throw with a throw of 59.75m (196'0").
Other Rhody Highlights
In the 800 meter run the Rams had a trio of runners in the event. Zach Campo led URI with a total time of 1:52.88 followed by Alexander McGrainer who clocked a time of 1:53.63. The Rams Michael MacLean finished in a time of 1:54.50
Mahlik Handley just missed a new personal best in the hammer throw with a throw of 60.76m (199'4").
The Rams will return to Weaver Stadium on the campus of the Princeton Tigers on Saturday for day two of competition. The day gets started at 11 a.m. with the men's and women's shot put and discus throws.
