Strawderman, Reilly and Kahrs to Compete at NCAA East Preliminaries
KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island will have three representatives at the East Preliminaries of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships, to be held in Jacksonville, Fla. from May 28 through May 30.

Senior James Strawderman has quaified for the prelims for the second time in his career. He placed 17th in the pole vault last spring. This year, he will be seeded 23rd in the field of 48. Strawderman cleared 5.20 meters (17' 0.75") last weekend to place second at the IC4A Championships.

The Rams will have two men competing in the high jump. Freshman Jacob Reilly will be seeded 29th out of 48, while sophomore Jack Kahrs will be seeded 34th. Reilly has twice cleared 2.09m, once when he won the event at the New England Championships and against last weekend when he placed third at the IC4A's. Kahrs cleared 2.09m at the Atlantic 10 Championships, where he placed second. 

The pole vault will be held Friday, May 29 at 4:30 p.m. while the high jump is slated for Friday, May, 29 at 5 p.m. The top 12 finishers in each event will advance to the NCAA finals in Eugene, Ore.
