Handley Named Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week After Penn Relays

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island sophomore Mahlik Handley was named Performer of the Week by the Atlantic 10 conference offices in Newport News, Va. on Monday.

Competing at the prestigious Penn Relays over the weekend, the Wakefield, R.I. native finished seventh overall in the Men's College division on the hammer throw.

The defending Atlantic 10 hammer throw champion improved his current conference-leading mark to 59.33m (194'7").

Handley and the Rams will head to Fairfax, Va. this weekend to defend their Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championship and complete the indoor/outdoor sweep for the 2015 season.

This is the seventh week that at least one Rhode Island athlete has won a weekly award and the second performer of the week award for Handley this season.
