Strawderman Places Sixth at 88th Annual Nike Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - Rhode Island senior James Strawderman placed sixth in the University/College section of the pole vault at the 88th annual Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. 

Strawderman, the Cranston native, cleared 5.05m, (16'6.75"), on his way to a sixth-place finish in the competition. The defending Atlantic 10 pole vault champion out-jumped competitors from schools in the SEC, Pac 12, Big Ten, and Big 12, amongst many others.

The only vaulters to defeat Strawderman in Austin, Texas on Thursday were Chase Wolfie and Audie Wyatt from Texas A&M, Tyler Porter from Tennessee, Nick Meyer from Kansas, and Nick Maestretti, also from Kansas, but competing unattached.

Strawderman and the Rhode Island Men's Track & Field team will compete in Amherst, Mass. on April 4th at the UMass Invitational.
