Honka, Berry Earn Academic All-Conference Honors

KINGSTON, R.I. -  Rhode Island Mens' Track & Field sophomores Ondrej Honka and DeAngelo Berry have been named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team, the conference announced Tuesday.

Honka, a native of Opava, Czech Republic, won the pole vault and the men's heptathlon at the 2015 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championships. He set new personal records in four heptathlon events, as well as his overall heptathlon score.

Berry, from Windsor, Conn., was also impressive in his event at the Indoor Championship, winning the 60m dash in a time if 6.87s, that was just .02 seconds shy of tying a meet record.

Honka is a supply chain management major with a 3.98 GPA, while Berry has a 3.64 GPA as a public relations major.

The Rams will begin the outdoor track & field season this weekend at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, Conn.
