KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island freshman Marlon Montague was named Rookie Performer of the Week by the Atlantic 10 conference offices in Newport News, Va. on Tuesday.
Competing in the Sorlien Memorial Invitational, the West Babylon, N.Y. native ran the 500m and finished second in his first time ever running the event. He also ran a leg of the 4x400m relay. His time of 1:05.37 and the relay time of 3:19.40, when converted for track size, are both top in the conference.
The award is the second by a Rhody men's track and field competitor this season, as Ondrej Honka was the Co-Performer of the Week last week.
Next, Montague and the Rams will travel to Boston, Mass. on January 31 to compete in the Boston University Terrier Classic. The meet is expected to begin at 10 a.m.
