STORRS, Conn. - Three Rams claimed first place finishes as the University of Rhode Island men's track & field team competed at the Husky Spring Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
Keeling was the first Ram to win an event as he claimed the javelin with an IC4A qualifying mark of 63.93m. Keeling would also post an IC4A qualifying mark in the shot put as he finished fourth with a toss of 15.89m. He later registered a 15th place finish in the discuss throw with a mark of 43.05m.
Sophomore Wayne Seaton had a big day for Rhody as he won the 110m hurdles in an IC4A qualifying time of 14.77. Seaton would later go onto post a runner-up finish in the 400m hurdles with an IC4A and NCAA D2 provisional time of 53.96.
Rhody would go back-to-back in the 400m dash as senior David Kennedy and sophomore Anthony Davidson finished first and second, respectively. Kennedy's winning time of 48.44 was both an IC4A and NCAA D3 provisional qualifying time. Davidson's time of 48.33 was also an IC4A qualifier. Kennedy later went onto finish third in the 200m dash with an IC4A qualifying time of 21.90.
Rhode Island will be back in action this Friday as it heads to Knoxville, Tenn. to take part in the SeaRay Relays.
