ANNAPOLIS, MD.- The University of Rhode Island men's track & field team took part in the U.S. Navy Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Wesley A. Brown Field House.

Navy won the scoring meet with 174 points, while Temple followed with 135.50. Rutgers was third with 129 points and Rhody was fourth with 113.50.

Senior Jacob Keeling got the meet started off in a big way for the Rams as he won both the weight throw and shot put events. Keeling notched an IC4A qualifying mark of 17.75m in weight throw as teammate William Janes finished third with a mark 17.00m- also an IC4A qualifying mark.

In the shot put, Keeling (16.20M), along with Andrew Piscitelli (15.47m), both notched IC4A qualifying marks, as they finished first and second, respectively.

Rhody's pole vaulters shined once again as Jamie Kida and James Strawderman finished first and second with identical marks of 4.65m.

Senior David Kennedy had another strong outing as he claimed the 400m dash in an IC4A qualifying time of 48.38, well over a second ahead of the second place finisher (49.74).

In the 4x400m relay, a team comprised of Victor Boonham, Andrew Reigstad, Anthony Davidson and Kennedy managed to finish in second place, with an IC4A qualifying mark of 3:18.90.

Rhode Island will be back in action next Saturday, Jan. 29th to take part in the Terrier Classic. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in Boston.
