KINGSTON, R.I.- The University of Rhode Island men's track & field team opens its 2011 home campaign as it hosts the Sorlien Memorial Invitational this Saturday at noon inside Mackal Fieldhouse.
Along with Rhody, the event features six teams from the around the Northeast and will be scored. Joining URI at Mackal will be Brown, Bryant, UMass, UMass-Dartmouth and Holy Cross.
Rhody placed second in last year's event with 172.50 points and were led by strong performances from David Kennedy, Rob Damon and Jacob Keeling, who all recorded IC4A qualifying marks. Kennedy claimed the 400m dash in a time of 49.11 while Damon finish second in the high jump (6 feet, 8.25 inches) and Keeling third in the weight throw. (55-11.25).

Rhode Island will be back in action next Saturday, Jan. 22nd as they travel to Annapolis, MD to take part in the U.S. Navy Invitational. The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
