Barletta and Kida To Attend NCAA Leadership Conference

KINGSTON, R.I. - Senior women's tennis player Amanda Barletta and junior men's pole vaulter Jamie Kida were chosen to represent the University of Rhode Island at the 2009 NCAA Division I Regional Leadership Conference, held October 23-25 in Atlanta, Ga.

Barletta and Kida - along with academic advisor Deb Cohen - will join representatives from other Atlantic 10 institutions as well as those from the ACC, MEAC, CAA and Big South Conferences at the weekend-long event designed for student-athletes, coaches,administrators and facultyto develop their leadership skills, while becoming more familiar with the Division I experience.

Participants will engage in sessions that promote their understanding of the NCAA, Division I Governance, the Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and other Division I-specific issues.
