NEW YORK - The Rhode Island men's track and field team concluded competition at the 2010 Lafayette Rider Winter Games. The meet was held at the Armory Track and Field Center.
Junior David Kennedy led the way as he posted a pair of top 10 finishes in the 200m (sixth, 22.21) and 400m (second, 48.16). Both of Kennedy's times were season-bests and served as IC4A qualifying marks.
Senior Rob Damon continued his strong 2010 indoor season as he won the high jump for the second-consecutive week as he posted a leap of 2.04 meters. Damon's leap served as an IC4A qualifying mark.
URI also had a pair of individuals finish in the top of five of the shot put as seniors Gregory Borrelli (fourth, 16.15) and Derek Peterson (fifth, 15.84m). Peterson also took fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 16.82m.
Rhody placed third in the 4x400m relay, finishing in a time of 3:20.52. The Rams also won the 4x800m relay, finishing in a season-best time of 7:53.53.
Rhody returns to action on Feb. 19 as it plays host to the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championships inside Mackal Fieldhouse.
