KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island men's track and field team took second at the 2010 Sorlien Invitational Saturday afternoon at Mackal Fieldhouse, finishing with 172.50 points.
Senior Rob Damon, junior Jacob Keeling and junior David Kennedy all posted IC4A qualifying marks in the high jump (6 feet, 8.25 inches - second), weight throw (55-11.25 - third) and 400-meter dash (49.11 - first), respectively.
Kennedy's winning performance was the Rams' lone first-place finish on the afternoon.
Senior Brian Alexander finished runner-up in the 55m hurdles as he clocked a time of 7.97.
In the field events, Greg Borrelli posted a second-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 50-10.25. Freshman Jonathan Barlett opened his collegiate career with a runner-up finish in the pole vault (14-3.25)
Rhody posted a pair of second-place finishes in the 4x400m (3:22.11) and 4x800 (8:11.25) relay events.
The Rams return to action next week as they place host to the URI Invitational at Mackal Fieldhouse. The meet is set to begin at 3 p.m.
