Men's Track Competes at Kansas Relays

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The University of Rhode Island men's track & field team concluded action at the Kansas Relays Friday afternoon. The Rams sent 12 student-athletes to compete - five of which advanced to the finals in their respective events.

Senior Yudehwheh Gbaa (Providence, R.I.) had the best finish for URI, placing second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.56. He also finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 50-02.50.

Senior Ryan McCarthy (Worcester, Mass.) placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 51-09.00 and 12th in the javelin (198-11) while classmate Michael Bernardo (South Attleboro, Mass.) was ninth in the hammer throw (184-08).

Junior John Carstensen (Staten Island, N.Y.) and senior Sean Strizzi (Latham, N.Y.) each cleared 15-01.00 in the pole vault, placing each of them in the top 10.

The rest of the Rams' track team was slated to compete at the UConn Invitational Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
