PRINCETON, N.J. -- The University of Rhode Island competed at the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton University on April 4-5.

Yudehweh Gbaa and Alex Reid finished 1-2 in the 110m hurdles. Gbaa clocked 14.74 seconds, while Reid crossed the line in 14.96 seconds. Brian Alexander was fourth (15.30).

In total, the Rams won three individual events. Gbaa also captured the triple jump, with a leap of 49-01.00 (14.96m). Ryan McCarthy won the javelin throw, with a throw of 223-04 (68.08m).

David Kennedy was fifth in the 200m dash, in a tile of 22.21 seconds. URI alum Ashhad Agyapong won the event, in 21.37 seconds.

In the field events, Derek Peterson finished third in the discus throw, with a toss of 164-00 (50.00m). Michael Bernardo was sixth in the hammer, with a heave of 191-06 (58.37m).

John Carstensen and Sean Strizzi finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the pole vault. Both cleared a height of 15-3 (4.65m).

The 4x100m relay team of Michael Russell, Brendan Lamboy, Cameron Cormier, and Gbaa finished third, in a time of 42.31. Rhody's 4x400m relay squad of Manuel Richards, Nicholas Sanborn, Stephen Mateka, and Kimly May was fifth in a time of 3:22.19.
