Men's Track/Cross Country Announces Team Captains

KINGSTON, R.I. -

Rhode Island Men's Track and Cross Country Head Coach John Copeland has announced his squad's captains for the 2006-07 seasons. Seniors Christopher Adams (Selden, N.Y.), Ashhad Agyapong (Trenton, N.J.) and David Bell (Boston, Mass) and junior Sean Strizzi (Latham, N.Y.) will lead the indoor and outdoor track teams while junior Matthew Gallagher (Keene, N.H.) will head up the cross country squad.

Adams, a Psychology major, competes in the hurdles and jumps. He is an ICAAAA qualifier, a New England Scorer and an A-10 Champion.

Agyapong, a Psychology major, is a sprinter for URI. He is an NCAA Regional qualifier, an NCAA Indoor Provisional qualifier, an ICAAAA Medalist, as well as a New England and Atlantic 10 Champion.

Bell, a Sociology major, competes in the shot put. He is a New England qualifier and an A-10 scorer.

Strizzi, an Ocean Engineering major, is a pole vaulter for the Rams. He is a NCAA Regional Qualifier, an ICAAAA Medalist, Atlantic 10 Champion and a New England Runner Up.

Gallagher, a Biomedical Engineering major, runs cross country, distance and middle distance for the Rams. He is a New England qualifier and has competed in the Atlantic 10's for cross country, indoor and outdoor track.

The Rhode track team is set to open the indoor season with the Rhody Collegiate Open on Jan. 12, 2007.
