NEW YORK, N.Y. - University of Rhode Island senior Andre' Reid (South Windsor, Conn.) finished seventh in the shot put at the NCAA East Regional on Friday.
Reid threw the shot 59-feet-4 3/4 to make the finals of the shot and finish seventh out of 30 competitors in the NCAA East Regional, being held in New York City.
Reid, the three-time defending Atlantic 10 champion in both the indoor and outdoor shot put, also finished 18th in the discus with a toss of 159-8.
The five-time defending Atlantic 10 Outdoor champion Rams had two athletes competing in the preliminaries in running events. Sophomore Ashhad Agyapong (Trenton, N.J.) finished 13th in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.27 seconds. He finished 15th in the 100 dash in 10.60 seconds.
Sophomore LaeJon Brooks (West Orange, N.J.), the Atlantic 10 and New England champion in the 400 intermediate hurdles, is 25th after running a 53.07 in the preliminaries at the East Regional.
The finals of the 100, 200 and 400 intermediate hurdles will be Saturday.
