KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Rhode Island men's track & field team posted two school records and five NCAA Regional qualifying marks against some of the toughest competition in the country at the Sea Ray Relays on Saturday.
Senior Andre' Reid (South Windsor, Conn.) won the open shot put with a school record throw of 60-feet-1 and also threw a personal best and NCAA Regional qualifying mark of 173-11 in the discus to take fourth. Reid also finished third in the invitational shot put competition with a NCAA Regional qualifying mark of 58-6.
Sophomore Ashhad Agyapong (Trenton, N.J.) placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in a school-record time of 46.75, which is also a NCAA Regional qualifying mark. Agyapong took seventh in the 200 dash in a time of 21.21.
Sophomore Dan Godin (Coventry, R.I.) finished fifth in the open hammer with a NCAA Regional qualifying mark of 185-3.
Junior Eric Groce (Rutland, Vt.) finished 14th in the 200 dash in 21.50 seconds and took 21st in the 100 dash in 10.87 seconds.
