Rhode Island Men's Track Announce Season Captains

KINGSTON, R.I. -

KINGSTON, R.I. - Head coach John Copeland and assistant coach Derek Yush are proud to announce the tri-captains for the 2002-2003 season.

Seniors Brett Matthews (Scarborough, Maine), a five-time Atlantic 10 champion in the pole vault, and William Johnston (Warwick, R.I.), who was named as an all-east ICAAAA scorer in the hammer throw in 2001, and earned first place with a throw of 192'10. 0" at the Atlantic 10 championship, as well as junior Colin Aina (East Providence, R.I.), who earned himself an NCAA provisional qualifier spot in the high hurdles during the 2001-2002 season.

"Both coach Copeland and I are sure that these gentlemen will do a tremendous job this season helping us lead the team," said Yush.

With their experience and dedication to the team the three are looking to not only compete but also become mentors to their squad.
