Dedham, Mass. - The Rhode Island Rams men's track and field team competed well at the non-scoring Northeastern Husky's Spring Open on the Solomon Track Facility, Saturday, March 29th 2003.
In track events, freshman Eric Groce (Rutland, Vt.) placed second in the 100m dash with a time of 11.08, while freshman Corey Draffen (New Bedford, Mass.) placed second in the 200m dash with his time of 22.02.
Rhode Island swept the 400m dash when freshman Rob Johnson (Rumford, R.I.) grabbed first with his time of 49.97, freshman Kayode Ankinsinde (Coventry, R.I.) placed second coming in at 50.16 and sophomore Kevin Lopes (Portsmouth, R.I.) placed third (50.65).
Rhode Island's 4x100 relay team placed first with their time of 42.53.
In field events, junior Colin Aina (East Providence, R.I.) placed first in the 110m high hurdles with his time of 14.20 and in the long jump with his reach of 6.91m while fellow junior Jesse Andoscia (North Kingston, R.I.) placed first in the 400m hurdles with his time of 55.38.
Junior Chad Washington (Monticello, N.Y.) placed second in the long jump reaching 6.69m and in the triple jump jumping 13.07 while sophomore Jonathan Green (Great Neck, N.Y.) placed first in the triple jumping 13.22m.
In the throws, sophomore Jamie Finneran (Kittery, Maine) threw for first in the javelin reaching 61.24m. Currently the shot put finals are not available, for stats and updated shot put information visit www.GoNU.com.
The Rams will compete again this following weekend April 4th and 5th at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va.
