Men's Track & Field Places Third At New England Championship

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Rhode Island Men's outdoor track and field team placed third at the New England Championship over the weekend at the University of Connecticut. The Rams finished the meet with 68 points, behind Dartmouth (65) and host Connecticut (120).

Junior Anthony Lordo notched the Rams only first-place finish for the meet, taking the individual title in the high jump (6'11.00"). Lordo also placed fourth in the 100 meter dash (10.84), fifth in the 200 meter dash (22.24) and ran a leg on the second-place 4x100 relay team (3:14.82). Freshmen Christopher Neil (14.57) and Colin Aina (14.70) placed fourth and fifth in the 110-meter hurdles while senior Dustin Kuzma notched a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (53.25).

Senior Scott Iamarone finished second in the hammer throw (195'4.00") while junior James Rooney placed fourth in the shot put (51'5.75"), eighth in the hammer (170'1.00") and 11th in the discus (147'4.00").

The Rams return to action on May 18-19 at the IC4A Championship, held at Princeton University.
