Dustin Kuzma Wins New England Championship In the 400-Meter Hurdles

STORRS, Conn. - Rhode Island junior Dustin Kuzma won the 400-meter intermediate hurdles at the New England Outdoor Championship held today at the University of Connecticut.

Kuzma logged a time of 51.39 for the Rams, who placed fourth overall.

Senior Tom Hicks set a school record in the javelin. Hicks, who finished second, threw 219'03" to break the old mark of 218'02" set by Brian Cooper on May 21, 1995. Other second-place finishes included James Rooney, who threw 159'10" in the hammer and the 4x400-meter relay tea,, which ran 3:12.59.

Other notable performances contributing to fourth-place finish include fifth-place finishes by Joel Fedorowicz in the 800 meters (1:53.41) and Tony Lordo in the 200 meters (22.30), and sixth-place finishes by Brian DeMello (196'06") in the javelin, Tony Lordo in the high jump (6'7"), and Brett Matthews in the pole vault (14'9").
