KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island golf team will open play at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championship, Friday morning at the Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando. Rhody will tee off at 9:45 a.m., alongside George Mason and La Salle.
"We head into the Atlantic 10 Championship ranked eighth in the league, but with the momentum of a win our last time out, at the Rhode Island Invitational," head coach Gregg Burke said.
"We have two tournament winners in Dawson and Chris, in addition to Brody, who came in second at last year's conference tournament. These three golfers, our top three, have performed admirably all year long," Burke added. "With Jason having a lock on the fourth spot, we had a spirited playoff between Burke Barsamian and Austin for the fifth spot in the lineup. Austin won, which I hope gives him the confidence he needs to get back to his old form. If Jason and Austin just go out there and play well, we will surprise some people."
The 54-hole Atlantic 10 Championship will conclude on Sunday, with a single-round scheduled for each day. Admission to the championship is free and live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com for those unable to attend.
