KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island sophomore Chris Francoeur has been named Atlantic 10 Co-Golfer of the Week, announced Monday afternoon by the conference office. It marks the fifth A-10 weekly honor of his career as he was a four-time Rookie of the Week last season.
Francoeur earned this first accolade of the 2018-19 season by claiming the individual title and helping lead Rhode Island to the team championship at the Cape Fear National Intercollegiate last weekend. The Amesbury, Mass. native finished the three-round tournament with an even 216. He was the only golfer among the field of 51 to finish with a negative score (-2) on par-4 holes and had nine birdies overall.
Francoeur shares the weekly honor with George Washington's Logan Lowe.
The Rams are back in action on Friday, when they open play at the FAU Spring Championship at Osprey Point Golf Club in Boca Raton, Fla.
