Mike Lago joined Jim Fleming's staff as the team's Video Coordinator in July of 2018. He also handles quality control for both the offense and special teams.
Lago came to the Rams from Mass Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay, Mass., where he had been the wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator from December 2017 through July. He also was the program's head strength and conditioning coach and social media coordinator.
Lago spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Western Connecticut State, where he coached special teams, defensive backs and running backs. In two seasons as the special teams coordinator, his unit blocked 18 kicks. Lago also coached a first-team all-conference punter in 2017, and a second-team all-conference kicker in 2016. During the same two-year span, he served as the defensive backs coach for a group that intercepted 26 passes and produced a first-team all-conference selection. In his first season with the program, Lago coached the running backs. In 2015, Western Connecticut State led the conference in rushing yards per game and total rushing yards. The team averaged 5.0 yards per carry, rushing for 19 touchdowns with just one fumble in 333 attempts. He also coached a first-team all-conference back.
Lago earned his bachelor of science from Endicott College in 2013.
