KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island head coach David Cox announced that junior college transfer Jeremy Sheppard has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Rams for the 2019-20 season.
Sheppard comes to Rhode Island with two years of eligibility after spending the 2018-19 season at the College of Central Florida.
"Jeremy will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact for us next season," Cox said. "He is an experienced player whose offensive game will help us tremendously. This is a young man we are familiar with, and we are very excited to bring him to Rhode Island."
Sheppard averaged 17.1 points last year, shooting 49.1 percent from the floor and 44.3 percent from 3-point range.
As a freshman, the 6-1 Sheppard made the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team for Eastern Carolina in 2016-17. He averaged 9.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Pirates. Sheppard appeared in 30 games, making 13 starts and averaging 26.5 minutes. He led the league in assists per game and assist-to-turnover ratio.
