KINGSTON, R.I. - Erika Seagren has joined the Rhode Island compliance staff, as an assistant director, announced Monday by Associate AD for Compliance Paul Kassabian.

"Erika brings a wealth of knowledge to here Kingston, from both a conference standpoint and on the institutional side," Kassabian said. "We are excited to welcome her to our Rhody Athletics family."

Seagren comes to URI from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), where she spent the past two years serving as the Director of Compliance. Among her many responsibilities at the MAAC were the handling of all inquiries and interactions between the MAAC membership and the NCAA's national office, serving as the conference resource person for the NCAA Institutional Performance Program, overseeing the National Letter of Intent (NLI) program and enforcing the MAAC Constitution, Bylaws, and Administrative agreements.

She also served as the co-SAAC advisor for the MAAC Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and oversaw the MAAC Choices program which is funded through the NCAA Choices grant.

Seagren returned to the conference after spending just over a year at Wagner College, as a media relations and marketing assistant. There, she was the media contact for men’s and women’s water polo in addition to her marketing duties.

During the 2015-16 academic year, Seagren worked at the MAAC as an administrative fellow, assisting with the conference’s marketing efforts throughout basketball season. She also served as the promotions coordinator at the MAAC men's and women's basketball championships, as well as at the AdvoCare Invitational, an annual basketball tournament at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports.

A 2015 graduate of Siena College, Seagren was a Dean's List student and MAAC All-Academic performer as a four-year member of the Seahawks swimming & diving team. A team co-captain and SAAC representative, she earned her bachelor’s degree in business management. The Hyde Park, N.Y. native went on to obtain a Master’s of Business Administration, with a concentration in marketing, from Wagner in 2018.
