KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island and Providence College Student Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC) are proud to announce the Second Annual URI-PC Holiday food drive. Food collection points will be outside both the North and South lobbies of the Ryan Center at the Rhode Island vs. Providence College men's and women's basketball games on December 5.
The first 500 fans who donate a non-perishable food item will receive a men's basketball buy one, get one free ticket coupon - good for either the Dec 8, Dec 10, or Dec 20 game.
All proceeds will be donated to the Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale and will help families in Rhode Island prepare a holiday meal during the month of December.
Foods most needed are: gravy mix, stuffing, cranberry sauce, canned vegetables, canned pineapple, quick bread mix, pie crust mix, evaporated milk, canned pumpkin and canned pie filling, although any non-perishable food item will be greatly appreciated.
SAAC encourages all student-athletes, athletic department administrators, students and members of the community to donate food to this great cause. Last year, PC and URI teamed up to raise over 2,000 pounds of food and hope to exceed that total this year.
