Welsh Named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island volleyball senior Caitlyn Welsh was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week by the league office on Monday.
Welsh (Narragansett, R.I.) helped the Rams to a 2-1 record this past weekend at the 2009 Art Carmichael Invitational. The URI outside hitter lead the Rams offensively, averaging 4.45 kills per game. She also totaled 3.85 digs per game.
In three matches this past weekend, Welsh totaled 10-or-more kills, including a season-high 19 terminations in Rhody's 3-1 victory over New Hampshire.
Welsh leads URI in kills and ranks ninth in the Atlantic 10 with 2.84 per game.
Rhody returns to action at 5:00 p.m., on Friday against Hartford in the Boston College Tournament.
