Volleyball Falls to No. 21 Saint Louis on the Road

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Rhode Island volleyball team (13-13 overall; 5-7 Atlantic 10) dropped three straight sets to No. 21 Saint Louis on Sunday.

Sophomore Lauren McIntosh (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led URI offensively with seven kills.

Defensively for the Rams, senior Peggy Doino (Deer Park, N.Y.) led the way with a match-high 21 digs. In 2008, Doino leads the squad with 440 digs.

URI jumped out to a quick lead in the first set 5-1, but SLU stormed back, winning seven of the next 10 points to even the frame at 8-8. The Rams would then win five of the next eight points to take a 13-11 advantage, but the Billikens would come back to even set at 13 apiece. SLU would not trail for the remainder of the set to win the frame 25-22.

SLU would then go on to win the next two frames 25-15 and 25-10, respectively to win the match.

Rhode Island returns to action on Wednesday as it heads North to faceoff against in-state rival Providence. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
