McGuire Named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island junior Jenna McGuire has been named the Atlantic 10's Defensive Player of the Week, following her performance over the weekend.

A middle blocker, McGuire helped Rhode Island snap an eight-match losing streak with a 3-0 sweep of Fordham Saturday. She led a defense that held the visiting Rams to an .083 attack percentage for the night.

Individually, the Colorado Springs, Colo. native set a new career-high with nine blocks, while also adding five kills and a pair of service aces in the win.

McGuire currently leads the team with 84 total blocks this season. She has 164 for her career.

The Rams wrap up the 2018 season this coming weekend when they host George Mason (Friday) and George Washington (Saturday). Both matches will begin at 7 p.m.
