Yale Sweeps Rhody in Art Carmichael Finale

How it Happened
Rhode Island (4-5) saw its four-match win streak snapped Saturday night as the Rams were swept by Yale 25-22, 25-18, 25-17 in the finale of the Art Carmichael Invitational.

Yale (5-1) was led by tournament co-MVP Kathryn Attar, who had a match-high 12 kills. She was the lone player for either side to reach double digits. The visiting Bulldogs never let the Rhody offense gain momentum, getting 68 digs and 11 blocks in just three sets.

Inside the Box Score

  • Senior setter Lauren Pick and sophomore outside hitter Claire Chaplinsky were named to the all-tournament team for Rhode Island. Pick was the co-MVP along with Yale's Kathryn Attar.
  • Also named to the team were Yale's Tristin Kott, New Hampshire's Gabri Olhava and Army's Sydney Morriss.
  • Pick had 27 assists and 13 digs to notch the double-double.
  • Senior Olivia Budinich had 20 digs for the Rams.
  • Redshirt sophomore Natale Zanellato led Rhody with nine kills and added five digs.

The Rams will play in the Sacred Heart Invitational next weekend, taking on Binghamton Friday at noon. Rhody will face NJIT and Sacred Heart next Saturday.
