TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Senior Sarah Thornton finished seventh in the discus at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Regional Championship, held at Florida State in Tallahassee.

Thornton, seeded seventh entering the meet, registered a throw of 161-11 (49.35m) on her third attempt. The mark was the fourth-best in URI history.

Her seventh place finish at the NCAA regional championship marks the highest in her Rhody career.

She, along with teammate Jasmine Jennings, will compete in the hammer throw on Saturday afternoon. Additionally, TyLynn Graham will take part in Saturday's high jump competition.
