GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Jasmine Jennings placed second overall in the hammer throw at the 2009 NCAA East Regional Championship.

Jennings registered a throw of 193-09 (59.05m) to earn runner-up status in the event, which features competitors from schools from Maine to Florida.

It is the second consecutive trip that Jennings earned a spot in the field of the NCAA hammer throw championship.

The top five finishers in each event in each region earn an automatic qualifying spot in the 2009 NCAA Championship. The national championship meet will be held from at the University of Arkansas from June 10-13.

Teammate Crystal Bourque finished 11th in the hammer, with a toss of 169-00 (51.51m).

In the 400m hurdles, freshman Kalyn Sheehan was fifth in her qualifying heat and 33rd overall in a time of 1:02.61.

In dsy two of competition, Ananda Fraser placed 23rd overall in the triple jump, with a leap of 39-07.75 (12.08m). Shayna Daugherty also competed in the high jump, but did not register an opening mark.
